Police in Preah Sihanouk province are trying to untangle an assault case involving 11 Chinese men in Sihanoukville’s Boun commune on Tuesday.
Nine of the men are suspected of assaulting the others. The nine were detained as they drove their victims to hospital.
Suth Sam On, chief of minor crime bureau, said: “In total we brought eleven Chinese people to our police station.
“Our preliminary conclusion was that nine of them are the suspects and the other two are the victims. We can see minor bruises on them.
“If any of the nine are found not to be involved, we will just let them sign a contract not to repeat the act and for those actually involved, we will take action according to the law,” he said.
“However, we still don’t know how many were actually involved in the beating because it is hard to work with them because we don’t know Chinese and need a translator to question them first.”
