With the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia stealing the headlines, Cambodian C-League clubs Boeung Ket and Visakha played out a 1-1 draw in yesterday afternoon’s Metfone C-League highlight at the Western Stadium.

Boeung Ket, missing keeper Sou Yaty, began the brighter side but went behind to a strike from Visakha’s Choe Myong-ho. The North Korean ghosting in behind the defense to bury compatriot Kim Kyong-hun’s cross on the volley.

After sustained pressure in the second-half Boeung Ket drew level with the newcomers – Nigerian Julius Oiboh rising highest in the box to head home a looped cross from Esoh Paul Omogba.

In Saturday’s action, a second-half revival saw Ministry of National Defense score a 3-1 win over Soltilo Angkor at Old Stadium. Soltilo went ahead in the ninth minute through Yuta Kikuchi and took the slender lead into half-time.

However, the army went into the second period with renewed purpose and slammed home three goals courtesy of Reung Bunheing, Ub Kamol, and Kan Pisal. In Saturday’s other game, Angkor Tiger went down 2-1 to National Police.
