2 arrested after attempt to smuggle drugs across Thai-Cambodia border via cart

Khmer Times Share:

Thai authorities have arrested 2 people for reportedly attempting to smuggle drugs across the Thai-Cambodian border via hand drawn carts.

The arrests were made on the morning of September 3, 2024 at the upper gate in Kbal Spean 1 village, Sangkat O’Chrov, Poipet city.

Sources state that prior to the incident, a Thai man had parked his car in a parking lot near Rong Klue Market, Aranyaprathet district, and had requested a female worker to pull three suitcases on a cart into Cambodia.

The owner of the goods then disappeared.

Suspicious, Thai police from the Klong Leuk checkpoint in Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaeo province, then stopped the woman – and a man who was assisting her – and discovered a large quantity of drugs secreted in the suitcases.

The 2 Cambodians are now being questioned by Thai police.
