Thai mega star Sukollawat Kanarot also known as Weir Sukollawat, to his fans, graced the grand opening of Amed Clinic Cambodia’s new branch in Toul Kork last week. Weir is an actor, singer and model with Channel 7 in Thailand.

Weir studied to be an engineer and holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Khon Kean University. He also has a master’s degree from Kantana Institute in Bangkok.

It was quite by accident that Weir came into the showbiz spotlight. Talent manager Ae Suphachai, in Bangkok, saw Weir’s picture on a friend’s smartphone. He was so captivated that he flew to Khon Kean to persuade him to enter the entertainment business.

Still at university at the time, Weir had to seek permission from his parents. Without any hesitation, they gave him the green light. His first TV drama was Plik Din Su Dao, where he had a leading role with his ex-girlfriend ‘Pancake’ Khemanit Jamikorn.

In 2017, Weir won an Asia Star Award at the Seoul International Drama Awards, along with Malaysia’s Debbie Goh, Japan’s Hyunri, India’s Satyadeep Misra and the Philippines’ Gabby Concepcion.

According to The Nation, in Bangkok, Weir has been dubbed in the South Korean media as “the Jung Woo-sung of Thailand”.
