A suspected drug ringleader was arrested yesterday in Svay Rieng province’s Bavet city.
Ly Sarith, an officer with Phnom Penh military police, said the suspect was the head of a group that sold drugs in casinos in the capital and at the border.
Mr Sarith said the suspect was arrested yesterday morning by military police from Phnom Penh in cooperation with provincial military police in Bavet city.
After searching his house, police seized seven kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and a gun.
The suspect is now being detained for questioning. “Military experts are continuing to work on this case to find other suspects connected to it,” he said.
Mr Sarith declined to give the suspect’s identity in order to protect the ongoing investigation.
