Preah Sihanouk provincial police arrested more than ten Chinese nationals at a rental house in Sihanoukville’s Bey commune Monday night after a scuffle broke out between the group of friends while drinking.

Kol Phally, deputy provincial police chief, said that the case was minor and the men will be released after signing a contract to change their behaviour.

“This case only involved minor violence and we stopped it to prevent it from getting worse,” he said. “They had an argument amongst themselves while they were drinking beer, but no one was seriously injured.”

“There were more than ten of them,” he added. “All of them were Chinese. They were friends. We had them sign a contract, educated them and warned them not to drink beer and fight.”

Mr Phally said the group would likely be released today.

“We kept them in police custody overnight. Right now, we are still continuing the procedure of questioning them over a number of other matters,” he said.
