A 22-year-old man was arrested on Sunday after tearing down a CPP sign in Phnom Penh’s Chamka Mon district.
Ly Sophal, a Tonle Basac commune police officer, identified the man as Sok Oudom, a former CNRP supporter from Chbar Ampov 2 commune.
“He was seemingly angry with the CPP sign, which was put at the base of the Rainbow Bridge,” he said. “He climbed to tear it down and destroyed it.”
“He was later arrested by our local police force,” he added. “After his arrest, police tested him for drugs and the results came back positive.”
A Chamka Mon district police officer said the suspect has been accused by police of drug use and intentionally causing damage.
The officer said the suspect is due to make his first court appearance today.
