NagaWorld bagged the ‘Best Country Award for Overall Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Excellence – Best In Cambodia’ at the 10th Annual Global CSR Summit and Awards 2018, one of Asia’s most prestigious CSR award presentations, held recently in Lombok, Indonesia.
Now in its 10th year, the Global CSR Summit and Awards recognise and honour companies for their outstanding and innovative world-class CSR programmes, which demonstrate an ongoing commitment towards incorporating ethical values, compliance with legal requirements and respect for individuals, communities and the environment among businesses.
The award acknowledges NagaWorld’s strong commitment of having CSR practices embedded in the company’s core strategy, making major contributions towards sustainable economic development and nation building. NagaWorld’s CSR programmes are focused on four key pillars: education enhancement, community engagement, sports development and environmental care.
“We are honoured to receive this award, which marks another milestone in our continual efforts in giving back to the community and enriching the lives of the communities where we serve. We believe the key to CSR excellence is to develop a sustainable business strategy involving caring for the community, employees, shareholders and Cambodia as a whole,” NagaWorld Managing Director Pern Chen said.
Organised by Pinnacle Group International, the Global CSR Awards has become the gold standard among the CSR community. Out of 300 entries received from the region, a final selection of 60 companies were awarded top honours in the 10 main award categories.
Presenting the award was the guest of honour, Ms. Kurleni Ukar, Assistant Deputy for Industry and Regulation, Ministry of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia.
The NagaWorld Kind Hearts, formed in 2014 by NagaWorld employees in support of company-wide
CSR initiatives, has contributed towards a better learning environment and provided educational materials for more than 152,000 students in over 100 schools located across various provinces in Cambodia. On a similar vein, NagaWorld established Naga Academy in 2012 to provide comprehensive hotel and hospitality job-skills training, benefitting over 2,500 young Cambodians since its inception.
Other ongoing CSR programmes include enhancing fire safety awareness amongst students, supporting youth engagement via the NagaWorld Football Club and national sports development through partnership with the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, as well as promoting environmental awareness through the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) campaign.
