A brace from journeyman Nigerian striker George Bisan helped NagaWorld to a 2-0 win over Ministry of National Defense and increase their lead at the top of the Metfone C-League pile on Saturday.
With the Olympic Stadium in use for the National Games, Naga met Ministry of National Defense at Army Stadium where after a goalless first period, Bisan evaded opposition defenders to head home the opener in the 64th minute.
With Army tiring, and ten minutes remaining, Bisan’s second came after good work on the right wing from Khouch Dani who allowed Bisan in to sidefoot home the cross for his second goal of the game.
There was a surprise result elsewhere on Saturday, as Electricite du Cambodge held current champions Boeung Ket to a 1-1 draw at EDC Stadium. Yorn Mesa’s slammed home a 12th minute free-kick to give EDC an unlikely lead. But Boeung Ket levelled the tie through Julius Oiboh in the 65th minute – the African powering home Maycon Calijuri’s corner kick for the equaliser.
In afternoon action at the Army Stadium, Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng came from a goal down at half-time to defeat Soltilo Angkor 2-1. Dzarma Bata finished smartly to put Soltilo ahead in the 32nd but a quick double from Svay Rieng midway through the second – through a Shane Booysen penalty and a Trevin Caesar winner – gave Conor Nestor’s men all three points.
