The Cambodian embassies in Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, as well as the Cambodian Consulate in China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region have successfully repatriated 28 migrant workers and victims of human trafficking.

According Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesman Chum Sounry, the Cambodia Embassy in Thailand helped to repatriate six underage victims of human trafficking.  The children were aged ten to 16 years old.

The Embassy to Malaysia helped repatriate 12 illegal migrant workers – one of the a child.

In Singapore the Embassy helped a maid, who was not up to the harsh working conditions, regain her passport from her employer, thus allowing her to return home.

The Cambodian Consulate in Guangxi, cooperated, in cooperation with Chinese authorities, helped eight women and one man to return home.  The women were victims of brokers who promised them marriages with Chinese men, which never came to be.  The man was illegally working in China.

All 28 have safely arrived in Cambodia.
