Prime Minister Hun Sen on Tuesday appealed to all authorities to well prepare for flooding to rescue villagers when a natural disaster occurs.
Speaking on Tuesday during the 155th anniversary of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, Mr Hun Sen said that this year’s weather forecasting predicted that there will be flooding.
“According to weather forecasting, I would like to appeal to [all authorities] to prepare for flooding,” he said, adding that heavy flooding could occur, requiring officials to be well prepared.
Mr Hun Sen said that flooding would be handled by National Committee for Disaster Management, authorities and Cambodian Red Cross.
He also called for Cambodian Red Cross to be well prepared to help the affected families.
“The government has prepared some budget and food to cope with the issue,” Mr Hun Sen said, “If flooding does not happen, we will use it later or keep the budget for next year.”
