An estimated 600 runners took part in the Asian Games 2018 Fun Run yesterday morning around the Sokha Hotel, as the curtain came down on the Olympic Solidarity/Olympic Council of Asia Regional Forum which was hosted in Phnom Penh.

“Not as many as we hoped for but it is good to see runners taking part as we build towards the Asian Games” said National Olympic Committee of Cambodia secretary general Vath Chamroeun.

The two-day regional forum was inaugurated at the Sokha Hotel on Sunday as Phnom Penh welcomed representatives of nearly 30 countries, from East Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia.

The forum was presided over by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Ke Kim Yan, Mr. Haider Farman, Secretary of the Olympic Council of Asia, and Mr. Olivier Niamkey, Regional Director of Olympic Solidarity.

The Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games 2018 is expected to kick off in August and will see more than 10,000 athletes from 45 countries descend on Indonesia to compete for medals in 40 sports.
