Vietnam has pledged to help Cambodia host the 27th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Siem Reap province next year.

The commitment was made at the meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and Tong Thi Phong, deputy chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, at the Peace Palace yesterday.

Eang Sophalleth, Mr Hun Sen’s assistant, told reporters after the meeting that Ms Thi Phong’s visit to Cambodia was aimed at enhancing cooperation between the parliaments of both countries and to offer Cambodia aid in hosting the APPF in 2019.

“She said that Vietnam was committed to sharing experiences with Cambodia in relation to hosting the event to ensure its success,” said Mr Sophalleth.

He said the premier applauded and appreciated Vietnam’s commitment and asked Vietnam to help make the APPF in Cambodia a success.

Cambodia became a member of APPF in 1995, raising to 27 the number of member states in the organisation.
