Boeung Ket were 4-1 victors as they travelled to Myanmar on Wednesday, claiming a win over Shan United at Yangon’s Thuwunna Stadium in their AFC Cup meeting.
Brazilian forward Maycon Calijuri notched a brace and was joined on the scoresheet by Julius Oiboh and Samuel Gbenga Ajayi as the two-time C-League champions exited the competition on a high note.
Keo Kosal, Boeung Ket’s interim head coach praised his player’s mental fortitude in what was billed as a difficult away match.
“[The] main factor was the commitment to our country as representatives, said the interim coach. “The whole squad was prepared and finishing third is an achievement in a difficult competition.”
The match concluded Boeung Ket’s sixth and final match of the Asian club tournament.
The victory meant Boeung Ket, on six points, finished in third in group F behind Ceres Negros and Home United.
Wednesday’s opponents, Shan United, were left at the bottom of the group on three points.
