US Urges CNRP, CPP To Continue Talk But Ignore Covert Support

PHNOM PENH: March 14. 2014 (Khmer Times) – US has insisted that the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) and Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) should resume their talks.
“We encourage the two winning parties to talk together for sake of democratic reforms in Cambodia,” Sean J. McTntosh, spokesman for US Embassy in Cambodia, told reporters.
“The United States noticed that the two parties are negotiating in accordance with democracy, and they have agreed on reform of National Election Committee in the future,” he said.
The spokesman also said that the United States has supported the investigation into the irregularities of July’s general election.
The opposition leader recently warned to end negotiation with CPP until there was agreement on reform of the member of National Election Committee, which has to be approved by two-third majority of 123-seat National Assembly.
This statement by the U.S. Spokesman is contradictory to that made by CNRP Vice President in Australia where he said openly he had spent up to 20 years in the United States on various strategies in toppling leaders.
That there have been specialists and university professors in Washington DC, in Montreal of Canada, hired by the US in order to advise me on the strategy to change the absolute ruler in Cambodia. And if I follow such approaches or strategy and it is still unsuccessful, I will be speechless.
This probably explains the frequent trips abroad by Mr. Rainsy and Mr. Sokha – one to get advice on their regime change strategies which has thus far been far from being successful and other is to solicit funding.
