Officials seized 122 overloaded trucks nationwide in June, resulting in fines of more than 230 million riel ($57,000), according to a statement from the Ministry of Transport.
The trucks were overloaded by between four and 28 tonnes.
Ministry spokesman Var Sim Sorya said most of the truck owners were fined but none of the transport firms had their licences revoked.
“By law, we can revoke licences, but we haven’t done so yet. It is a last resort,” he said.
Mr Sorya said the revenue generated by the fines is still not enough to pay for road repairs and damage caused by such trucks, which runs at $180 million annually.
The 122 trucks seized in June marked a fall from May, when 149 were impounded.
