The suspect in the murder of a 22-year-old internet shop worker in Kandal province was yesterday charged in court.
Ing Ratanak, 25, faces life imprisonment if convicted of the brutal killing and has been detained in prison.
The victim Rath Putha was found dead in a pool of blood in the shop’s washroom on Sunday.
He had been stabbed in the chest with a knife.
The suspect was apprehended on Monday in Siem Reap.
Vong Bunly, a military police officer from Kandal, said Mr Ratanak killed the victim to steal his phone and money.
“He confessed to killing the victim because he lost gambling games online and owed people money,” he said.
