Almost a thousand people participated in Taramanathon at Diamond Island on Sunday aiming to raise funds for the Taramana Organization to help underprivileged children living in the slum area to get proper classrooms and a library.

The main agenda of the event was 5 km run. Participants were required to buy a ticket of $5 each that will be donated to the NGO.

“We raised funds in many pictures, we raised from both public and private institutions such as Sathapana Limited and through selling t-shirts and wristbands,” said Suos Imsouchivy, Youth Leader of SSEAYP’ 15 Cambodia Contingent. “ The event was quite successful as we have sold all the tickets, t-shirts and wristbands.”

“Through this event, firstly, we would like to draw people’s attention to love sharing no matter how small they have. Secondly, we love to encourage them to get involved in other charity events. Lastly, we would like Cambodian people to focus on their health by doing exercises,” he added.

The event was co-organized by Ship for Southeast Asian Youth program International Cambodia (SIC), Union Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), and Cambodian Participating Youths (CPYs ’15) of the 42nd SSEAYP program.
