Kampot Provincial Court charged a 19-year-old man yesterday for sexually assaulting his teacher last week.
Colonel Sao Sam Oeun, deputy chief of the Kampot provincial police, identified the suspect as Tim Lithea, a student at the Khiat Khuon Chinese School in Kampong Trach district, and the victim as Kua Chenchen, 25, a Chinese teacher who taught literature at the school.
Col Sam Oeun said that according to the victim’s statement, on Thursday evening at about 5.30pm, Mr Lithea and Ms Chenchen were hiking and riding his motorbike in Kampong Trach district.
“Using his motorbike, the suspect brought the victim to the foot of a hill,” Col Sam Oeun said. “He then forced himself upon her at that place because the suspect knew there would be no witnesses.”
Shortly after the incident, the suspect dropped the victim off at her rental house and fled, he added.
The next day, the victim reported the assault to authorities and filed a lawsuit against Mr Lithea. He was arrested later that day.
The accused was charged with sexual assault and faces five to 10 years in prison if convicted. He has been jailed pending his trial.
