Kampong Speu provincial police arrested three members of a suspected drug gang on Wednesday for possession and distribution of methamphetamine.

Major Chheang Vanna, a police officer with the provincial anti-drug department, identified the three suspects as Mean Pov, 38, Seata Samath, 34, both former policemen, and Men Seiha, 23, a motorbike taxi driver.

He added that police apprehended all three suspects after a raid was conducted on Mr Pov’s house in Baset district on Wednesday afternoon.

“They were part of an experienced drug gang who sold drugs in Kampong Speu province,” he said. “We knew about their safehouse because they sold drugs to our undercover officer.”

“We then proceeded to make the arrests shortly after conducting the raid,” added Maj Vanna.

Police confiscated 46 packages methamphetamine weighing more than half of a kilogram, one scale, two motorbikes, four phones, one sword, as well as other drug-related paraphernalia, said Maj Vanna.

The suspects are currently being detained at the provincial anti-drug department and are due in court today.
