The third annual Cambodia Architect and Décor Expo 2018 is scheduled to start next month bringing together more than 150 local and international companies in the three-day exhibition.
Cambodia Architect and Décor 2018 expository will be from May 24 to 26 at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center (Koh Pich).
The event is organised by ICVex Co Ltd which is backed by the Cambodian Society of Architects. More than 4,500 participants are expected to attend and the event has so far attracted more than 150 architect and home décor companies – most of them local and also firms from Italy, China, Taiwan and Thailand.
The theme for the 2018 Cambodia Architect and Décor will be “Design for better workplace and living”.
Tang Sochet Vitou, vice president of Cambodia Society of Architects (CSA), said that in the last 15 years, Phnom Penh has had significant growth and development in the construction and building sector.
“It is not only growth in residential buildings but also in commercial buildings, factories and office space. With an improved lifestyle, people are demanding quality,” said Mr Sochet Vitou.
“We at CSA think the expo will serve our purpose as we strive to supply up-to-date information to those visiting the expo and also to the exhibitors. There is a now a real middle-class in Cambodia and the lifestyle is changing, both in work and personal environments,” he added. Mr Sochet Vitou said: “We will support ICVex by distributing information to our partners, members, local suppliers and contractors, professionals and students. We will also organise a student design competition, and seminar.”
Thailand-based ICVeX Co Ltd is a subsidiary of Index Creative Village PCL (ICV).
Ajinveat Vhongthong, the project manager for ICVeX, said the expo will gather architects, interior designers, property developers and building professionals to exchange ideas on the latest innovations and trends in the sector.
“In the past two years, we talked about sustainability and urbanization in the bigger picture. Nowadays, Cambodia’s middle class is booming. Their lifestyle is changing and they want modernization, better living standards and more quality products. So that forms the basis of our theme this year: ‘Design for better workplace and living’,” said Mr Ajinveat.
“Since most people spend long hours at their working place, we want to create an ideal designed workplace and living space for Cambodians,” he added.
“The expo will showcase building materials, from roof to floor solutions, and also products like indoor and outdoor furniture and decorations. We will also have interior designers at the expo that will be able to provide consultancies and solutions to clients.”
Mr Ajinveat said ICVeX, every year, cooperates with CSA to support the networking for designers and architects.
“We always have a networking event so that professionals from both sides get to know each other in the industry,” he added.
