Kingdom Seeks Singaporean Investment

Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong on Tuesday urged outgoing Singaporean ambassador Kevin Cheok to encourage the island state to invest more in Cambodia.
“Cambodia and Singapore have good bilateral cooperation, both in the economic and political fields,” Mr. Nam Hong’s adviser, Ros Simara, said. “However, the minister has asked Singapore to increase its investment for the advantage of both countries.” Mr. Cheok is making a series of courtesy calls before finishing his posting.
Last year, Cambodia exported $58.5 million of goods to Singapore and imported $503.4 million worth of products. Singaporean investment slipped to $26.8 million last year from $36.6 million the previous year.
The number of Singaporeans who visited last year rose to 68,000 from 66,000. Overall tourism to the Kingdom last year increased to 4.8 million from 4.5 million in 2014.
