The Chinese government has pledged to build a vocational training centre in Preah Sihanouk province to help Cambodians develop skills for the workplace.
Labour Minister Ith Samheng signed the deal to build the centre as he led ministry delegates on an official visit to China this week.
Mr Samheng and his officials met Wu Xi town governor Wang Quang and representatives of the Wuxi Institute of Commerce, which is backing the centre.
“This is a good chance for both countries to cooperate with each other in human resources training,” said Mr Wang.
Mr Samheng thanked China for its investment and said Cambodia considers human resources development as a first priority to transform itself from a low- to high-income nation.
The deal with the Wuxi Institute of Commerce will see the organisation help provide bachelor degrees in technical, language and commerce skills to Cambodians.
It also plans to carry out research into vocational training experiences and cultural exchanges to boost ties between the countries.
