Worker killed in Korea

Cambodia’s embassy in South Korea is examining the case of a Cambodian factory worker who was killed when a crane hook fell on him.

Phai Phal, from Kampong Cham province’s Kong Mean district, arrived to work in South Korea four months ago.

Ambassador Long Dimanche said embassy officials will investigate the case and work with the company to get compensation for the victim’s family.

A Cambodia Worker Community in Korea post on Facebook said the man’s colleagues had invited a monk to pray for his soul at the scene of the accident, which happened on Monday in the Incheon area.

“On behalf of Cambodian workers in Korea, we hope he rests in peace,” the post said.

“As Cambodian workers who leave their homeland to work abroad we are sorry to lose him.”
