THREE farmers were arrested yesterday for selling Vietnamese lottery tickets in Kampong Speu province.
Samrong Tong district police chief, Lieutenant Colonel Khuth Sophal, said the three men traveled around the area and stopped at various houses to try and sell the tickets to locals.
They were later arrested by district officers and accused of running an illegal gambling operation.
Police named the three men as Nuon Chhay, 57, Pang Ang, 37, and Sim Phea, 31.
Lieut. Col. Sophal said police confiscated a total of 555,100 riel ($140), plus $64 in US dollars, two motorbikes, hundreds of Vietnamese lottery tickets and other related items.
He said the men would be sent to Kampong Speu Provincial Court for further questioning and a decision over charges was likely to be made today.
If found guilty the men could be jailed for up to five years.
