The main opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) held its rally in Phnom Penh on Friday afternoon with party president Kem Sokha speaking to supporters from the back of a truck.

A big crowd of supporters followed Mr Sokha across the Chroy Changvar Bridge and through the streets of Phnom Penh as the party tried to rally support for the commune elections.

The CNRP’s procession came a few hours after the ruling CPP’s rally, led by Prime Minister Hun Sen, through the streets of the capital.

Senior CNRP member Yim Sovann and Mr Sokha spoke to their supporters during the rally, which proceeded peacefully and without any incidents.
