Battambang Provincial Court yesterday released a popular CNRP commune election candidate after questioning her for allegedly contravening a court order in January.

Sin Chanpeourozet, who is contesting for the O’Char commune seat in Battambang Town, said she was questioned over whether she was involved in preventing a court order being carried out in relation to a land dispute with a police officer.

“I told the court that I did not prevent the court decision from being implemented, but that I just went to observe what was happening. I was a second-time commune chief at the time. I request the court does not pursue a case against me,” she said.

“The court said they will consider my request once they have summoned other people to clarify the situation and will inform me of their decision later.”

The land dispute related to an incident on January 16, when she went to observe 50 people protesting in front of the O’Char commune office.
