A 26-year-old building worker was jailed for 10 years on Friday for murdering his supervisor in a fit of anger.

Chhith Borey, 26, from Takeo province’s Samrong district, admitted killing Kea Huon, 49, in Sambour village in Phnom Penh.

Phnom Penh Municipal Court presiding judge Mong Monysorphea said that on the evening of January 1 Mr Borey argued with Mr Huon who had cut his pay by 40,000 riel ($10).

At about 2am, when the victim was sleeping at the building site, Mr Borey beat him to death with a piece of wood.

The suspect then fled to his home district. Building workers found the body the next day and Mr Borey was arrested on June 4.

During his trial on May 9, Mr Borey said he killed Mr Huon for cursing him and cutting his wage for no reason.
