The managers of an internet cafe were yesterday charged by Phnom Penh Municipal Court with running an illegal gambling operation.

Police raided the Bwin Cafe Net Shop in Tuol Kork district on Friday.

They arrested Vann Neang, 28, and Sok Kimhong, 20, both supervisors, and confiscated about $2,500, plus gambling materials.

Sin Samnang, an officer with Tuol Kork district police, said his team also arrested two gamblers who were in the shop at the time of the raid.

They were identified as Thun Sakthorn, 43, and Ing Chhayhok, 55. Both were fined 10,000 riel ($25) and told not to take part in illegal gambling again.

“The men were arrested by our police as they played online games inside the shop,” Mr Samnang said.
