Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen is among many world leaders to have congratulated Emmanuel Macron following his victory in the French presidential election on Sunday night.
Addressing a ceremony to mark the 154th anniversary of Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, Mr Hun Sen said, “I would like to take this opportunity to express my congratulations to the new French president. I hope relations between Cambodia and France will continue to strengthen.”
Mr Macron comfortably beat National Front leader Marine Le Pen by 66 to 34 percent.
Cambodia was a French colony for nearly a century until King Father Norodom Sihanouk negotiated its independence in 1953.
