Landmine casualties down by a quarter

Casualties from landmines and unexploded ordnances fell 24 percent in the first three months of the year, according to a report by the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority.
The report said there were 19 landmine and UXO casualties from January to March 2017, compared with 25 in the same period last year.
“Three people were killed, 11 were injured and five had limbs amputated,” the report said.
Last year 12 people were killed, seven people were injured and six lost limbs.
This year, 78 percent of the casualties were men, 11 percent were boys and 11 percent were women.
