A PROVINCIAL military police officer, his wife and a villager will appear in court today to be charged and questioned over their alleged involvement in drug use and trafficking in Kampot province.

The three, who all live in Sovann Sakor village, in Kandal province’s Kampong Kandal commune, have been named by police as Chea Chandara, 34, an officer with Kampot Provincial Military Police, his wife On Ana, 30, and local man Ly Taohour, 23.

Louk Nheav, deputy chief of Kampot provincial police, said police raided Mr. Chandara’s home on Monday and seized two packages of crystal methamphetamine as well as other drug-related material.

“Chea Chandara was the mastermind behind their drug use and trafficking,” Mr. Nheav said.
