A father and son drowned in the Mekong in Kampong Cham province on Sunday after falling into the river while bathing.
Police in Kang Meas district said Touch Soneng, 42, and his young son San Sovannarong, took a boat with other villagers to Koh Andet in the middle of the river.
“Mr. Soneng and his son went to the river’s edge to wash but fell in,” said police officer Thong Kosal.
“Neither of them could swim and the villagers could not reach them because the waves were too high.”
The boy’s body was found later the same day and his father’s yesterday morning.
