Cambodia’s national football team coach has praised Sou Yaty after the goalkeeper put in a fine performance in the kingdom’s 1-0 international friendly defeat of Laos.
“Laos are a strong team and they were dangerous going forward, said experienced coach Prak Sovannara. “but luckily he [Yaty] was on form.”
While Laos dominated proceedings on Tuesday night, Boeung Ket frontman Khuon Laboravy popped up with an 86th minute winner to lead the Angkor Warriors to a first win at the home of their Laotian opponents.
Cambodia’s National Team coach Prak Sovannara said he was happy with the win but was more impressed with the performance of his young players.
“The important thing is we have given many players the opportunity to play in the match, said Sovannara, who has called up a slew of new faces in his 23-man squad.
Defenders Sath Rosib of Boeung Ket and Phnom Penh Crown duo of Ouk Sovan and Yue Safy are all in Sovannara’s squad as are Sok Heang of Ministry of National Defense and Mat Noron of Electricite du Cambodge.
They are bolstered by the more experienced Malaysia-based quartet of Chan Vathanaka, Keo Sokpheng, Prak Mony Udom, Thierry Chantha Bin.
On the back of a positive result, Cambodia now travel to Tajikistan to play their AFC Cup qualifier against Afghanistan next Tuesday.
