The National Election Committee of Cambodia and the Central Election Committee of Russia have signed a cooperation deal to ensure the election process is free and fair in both countries.
The agreement was signed between NEC spokesman Dim Sovannarom and CEC chairperson Ella Pamfilova on Saturday.
Mr Sovannarom told Khmer Times from Russia that the deal was based on trust, equity and mutual respect, and followed the laws of each country.
He added that the agreement aimed to enhance the Electoral Law and activities of the election committee.
Following the agreement, both sides will cooperate to promote the capacity of each committee and the rights of voters, as well as guarantee parties the right to campaign via all media outlets.
Mr Sovannarom added the agreement would also help to develop technology for elections, including voter registration and organising elections in remote areas.
