Police are investigating the death of a 23-year-old man believed to be murdered and whose body was left in Por Senchey’s Traipaing Krasaing commune on Wednesday morning.
Trapaing Krasaing commune chief Sim Phoun said authorities were alerted by residents of a body found behind a garment factory.
“The victim was found behind a garment factory bordering Chaom Chao III commune. We were informed of the body in the early morning,” he said.
The man was found with his neck cut to the point of near decapitation. It is likely the victim died due to the wound inflicted.
“Police with the forensic section said that his head was nearly cut off,” he said. “After the autopsy, the victim was transferred to Po Chentong pagoda for relatives to come forward and claim the body.”
According to Mr Sim, the man is not from Trapaing commune. He suspects the 23-year-old man to be from outside of the commune.
“I am not sure where the victim is from exactly, but according to information I received, we suspect he is from an area outside of Trapaing Krasaing commune,” he said. “According to our findings, it is likely the victim was killed and his body was placed at the bottom of a tree. It is really tragic.”
Chief of Por Senchey district police Yim Saran said police have identified the victim and contacted his relatives to pick up the body to hold a funeral.
“We identified the victim and we are currently waiting for the man’s parents to claim the body,” he said. “We know that he is 23 years old. We do not yet know the motive behind his killing. We need to further investigate the case.”
