LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will sit out at least the next four games as he continues to nurse a sore right ankle.

Curry already has missed two games with the ailment, which forced him out of Golden State’s Thursday game against the San Antonio Spurs after two minutes. The Warriors announced Tuesday that he is progressing in his rehab and that he will be re-evaluated March 20.

Curry landed awkwardly on his right ankle after getting fouled by the Spurs’ Dejounte Murray on a layup attempt. He limped away, sank the subsequent two foul shots, then left the game for good. Golden State went on to win 110-107.

The Warriors dropped road games to the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday and to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday in Curry’s absence.

Golden State will remain without the two-time NBA Most Valuable player for home contests against the Los Angeles Lakers (Wednesday) and the Sacramento Kings (Friday) and then road games against the Phoenix Suns (Saturday) and the Spurs (March 19).

If Curry is cleared on March 20, he could return to oppose the Atlanta Hawks on March 23 in the opener of a four-game Warriors homestand.

Curry, 29, is averaging 26.3 points, 6.2 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game this season.
