Bus crash toll – one death, many injured

Foreign tourists injured in crash between bus and truck on Feb. 27 National Police

Around midnight on Feb.26, a passenger bus on its way to the capital from Siem Reap crashed into the side of a truck on the N6 in Kampong Cham’s Batheay district.  The bus driver was killed and 19 passengers were injured.

The driver was identified as Keo Savuth, 37, and the nationalities of the injured are given as: Cambodian (4), German (4), Thai (3), French (2), Israelis (2), British (2),  and one Chinese.

Deputy District Police Chief Sok Sol explained that “… the cause of the accident is that two trucks were driving in the same direction in front of the bus and the foremost truck tried to U-turn.  The passenger bus came and hit it.”

Furthermore,  “We cannot yet determine who is in the right and who is in the wrong, but the police experts will do the assessment later. Our police are using a crane to bring them to the district office.”
