Military Police in Koh Kong province on Sunday arrested a man over the murder of his brother, whose body was found tangled in fishing nets on Saturday in Preah Sihanouk province’s Stung Hav district.
Choup Lipo, Stung Hav district deputy police chief, said the suspect, Neth Sam Oeun, 44, is accused of killing his bother Neth Sambath, 48, before fleeing to hide in Koh Kong.
“Military police arrested him in Koh Kong province one day after the murder,” he said. “While taking a boat together, the suspect reported having an argument with his brother over the possibility of selling the boat.”
“The victim’s body was found when a fishermen in Stung Hav district pulled his fishing net out of the water and found it,” he added. “The body was found with serious wounds on the back of the head likely caused by blows from a piece of wood.”
Koh Kong and Preah Sihanouk provincial military police said that police arrested the suspect in Koh Kong province where he had escaped after the murder.
The suspect was sent to Preah Sihanouk Provincial Court after his arrest.
Lim Bunheng, spokesman for the provincial court, declined to comment.
