Police in Oddar Meanchey province’s Trapaing Prasat district are hunting for a suspect involved in a grenade attack on a house in Tomnup Dach commune which left one person with slight injuries on Thursday night.
A district police officer said that the explosion from the grenade, which was thrown into the victim’s home, was not very big and added that police are still looking for the perpetrator. “We have been working very hard on the case, but there is no light yet,” he said. “When the incident happened, a husband and wife were inside the home, and she got slightly injured on her leg.”
The officer identified the injured wife as Choun Chhun, 48, a grocery seller.
The officer added that police are still determining the type of explosive used in the attack and a motive behind the violence.
“We cannot make any conclusions yet,” he said. “If it is a revenge case, we will know once we arrest the perpetrator.”
District police chief In Kay said the attack happened at about 10pm on Thursday night. “Throwing a grenade like this into the house means it is likely a revenge case,” he said. “Luckily she was only slightly injured.”
