The government of Japan has granted assistance of over $1 million to two NGOs. They are: Japan Mine Action Service (JMAS) and World Vision Japan.
Japanese Ambassador Hidehisa Horinouchi signed the contracts on Friday endowing the NGOs with a total of $1,131,547.
JMAS receives $676,019 to JMAS for its comprehensive program, Mechanical Demining in Kampong Thom, and World Vision Japan gets $455,528 to help improve child and maternal health in Takeo province.
Mr Hidehisa commended the NGOs on their previous work, and is confident that the newly granted funds will be a boon in their endeavour to improve the living conditions of Cambodians.
He added that JMAS will pass its techniques on to the Cambodian Mine Action Centre; and World Vision Japan will improve rural clean water supply systems, and hygiene at health centres.
