A well-known singer was arrested on Wednesday for drug use in Phnom Penh, police said yesterday.
Bun Long, a Dangkor district police officer, said Buth Seiha, 25, who won the Hang Meas Company’s The Voice Cambodia in 2014, was arrested and sent to a rehabilitation centre.
“He was arrested while he purchased a small package of crystal methamphetamine from our undercover officers for his own use,” Mr Long said.
“After his arrest, police tested his urine, and it came back positive for drug use.”
Meas Rithy, vice general director of the Hang Meas Company, said Mr Seiha won the contest in 2014 and was afterwards given a contract with the company.
Mr Rithy noted that the accused was later fired over his drug use, which the company also reported to police.
