Police in Takeo province on Monday arrested a man in Bati district who was previously charged in 2015 by the Preah Vihear Provincial Court for forging documents to sell land.

Khuth Lo, district deputy police chief, said that after the arrest, the accused was transferred to Preah Vihear provincial police.

“We arrested him in accordance with the arrest warrant issued by the Preah Vihear Provincial Court,” he said. “He was charged with selling land and falsifying documents. He had been hiding in my district.”

According to the arrest warrant, Va San, 51, was charged with secretly selling land using forged documents in March 2015. Soun Phon, judicial police bureau chief with Takeo provincial police, said the crime amounted to a misdemeanour.

“We implemented the warrant from Preah Vihear Provincial Court,” he said. “It was a misdemeanour case in which he stole real estate and falsified documents.”
