Trade with US on the upswing

Trade between Cambodia and the US continued to expand in 2007, growing by 10 percent year-on-year to reach $3.46 billion, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The vast majority of the trade is made up of Cambodian exports, which reached a value of $3.06 billion, an 8.88 percent rise compared to 2016.

Cambodian exported goods are primarily textiles, footwear and travel bags.

In 2017, Cambodia imported $400 million in US products, up 11 percent year-on-year, mostly electronics, vehicles, machinery, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

The US is the second largest market for Cambodia after the European Union. The US absorbs 20 to 30 percent of all Cambodian exports.

In 2017, the US government granted full tax preferential access to travel goods manufactured in Cambodia.
