Five suspected drug traffickers were yesterday charged by Battambang Provincial Court over the trafficking of more than one kilo of methamphetamine.
Bun Rithy, deputy chief of the provincial anti-drug police department, identified the suspects as Chhoeun Sarith, 42; Sim Bora, 32; Heng Socheatra, 25; Chan Bunthoeun, 26; and Rith Chanrath, 16. They were all yesterday charged with drug trafficking and have been detained pending their trial.
Mr Rithy said the group was arrested on Friday at about 9.30am after police raided a rental house in Norea II commune.
After the arrests, police seized a total of nine packages of crystal methamphetamine weighing a total of 1,061 grams, four phones, one motorbike and other drug-related materials.
