National Assembly president Heng Samrin and incoming Vietnamese ambassador Vu Quang Minh yesterday pledged to boost ties between Cambodia and Vietnam in a bid to improve the livelihoods of people living on the borders of both countries.
The pair met at the National Assembly, where they agreed to strengthen and expand cooperation between the nations.
Mr Samrin’s cabinet chief Keo Piseth also told reporters the ambassador had already met the King and Prime Minister Hun Sen, as well as inaugurated a border market in Tbong Khmum province.
“He will be pushing strong cooperation on commerce to encourage development in both countries,” Mr Piseth said.Mr Piseth said Mr Samrin also congratulated Mr Quang Minh on being appointed ambassador to Cambodia.
“Mr Samrin hopes the ambassador will continue to strengthen and expand cooperation with all institutions, ministries and departments in Cambodia, especially all Cambodian provinces along the border,” Mr Piseth said.
