Two teen suspects were arrested on Sunday night by military police after they chased a group of men on their motorbike while firing a pistol in Phnom Penh’s Toul Kork district.

Sok Rith, a Tuol Kork district military police officer, identified the suspects as Sen Ponleu, 18, and Keo Rithy, 15.

He said the suspects had an argument with a group of five youths near the 7 Makara Sky Bridge on Sunday night at about 10.30pm.

They then drove their motorbike to chase them and fired gunshots at them, none of which struck anyone.

“They were arrested as they were driving their motorbike and opening fire on another group of youths who they had an argument with,” he said. “After their arrest, military police confiscated a pistol along with bullets and a motorbike.”

He added the two suspects were accused of unauthorised possession and transportation of weapons.

They were being detained at the district military police station for further investigation and will be sent to municipal court for questioning today.
