Vietnam’s new ambassador welcomed by senior official

Vietnam and Cambodia will continue to build and maintain the peace, stability and security for the people of both countries, especial those who live along the border, senior officials from both countries said on Monday.

National Assembly President Heng Samrin had a meeting with new Vietnamese ambassador Vu Quang Minh at the National Assembly on Monday and officials spoke afterwards of the warm relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Quang Minh told Mr Samrin that he will continue to strengthen, expand and improve the relationship and cooperation between both countries, Keo Piseth, the cabinet chief for Mr Samrin, told reporters.

Mr Quang Minh said he had been in Cambodia for more than one month and had joined in many events including the inauguration of a border market in Tbong Khmum province and had also been to the biggest rubber factory in Asia.

Mr Samrin welcomed and congratulated Mr Quang Minh on his appointment as ambassador to Cambodia and added that the long relationship between both countries had developed in all sectors.
