Battambang gets ready this weekend!

Tiger Beer Street Football lovers in Battambang province will be treated tomorrow and Sunday with displays of amazing footballing style and also many entertaining activities inside and outside the field.

The team that qualifies from this provincial round will not only win $1,500 in prize money but also bag a ticket to the March 10 and 11 Sixth Annual Tiger Street Football Festival grand final in Phnom Penh.

With a total prize fund of $50,000 up for grabs, the grand final will see winning teams from Sihanoukville, Kampong Speu, Battambang, Siem Reap, Poipet, Kampong Cham, and Kandal, playing off each other to win the national 6th Annual Tiger Street Football championship. The national champion receives a cash prize of $15,000, the first runner up $5,000, the second runner up $2,500 and the third runner up $1,000.

Tomorrow, performers like Sokun Nisa, Chhoan Sovanreach, Tep Borak, Pach Kimmouy and G Devit will be entertaining the crowds at Battambang city. On Sunday, Khemerak Sereimun, Pich Sophea, Chhin Manich, Step, and Keo Sophana will be on stage providing top-class entertainment.

To date, provincial rounds have been held in Sihanoukville and Kampong Speau provinces. Around 54 teams tested their skills in Ochheuteal beach, Sihanoukville, on 20 and 21 January with Hurricane FC taking top honours with a cash prize of $1,500 and gaining a berth in the grand final.

Last weekend, in Kampong Speu, ABA came out top in a close contest against their rivals Vitou MK in the final. They claimed the provincial prize of $1,000 and a ticket to the March grand final in Phnom Penh.

Ex-Manchester United winger Ryan Giggs is set to visit Cambodia for the March grand final and teams will be vying for a chance to share a futsal cage with the Welsh legend. Giggs is the most decorated player in football history and a winner of 13 Premier League winner’s medals.

The 6th Annual Tiger Street Football Festival also serves as a platform for talented players, aspiring footballers and anyone with a passion for the game to showcase their talent, exchange pointers, and learn from good players.
