Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn will travel to Indonesia for a three-day goodwill visit meant to boost ties between Cambodia and Indonesia from February 1 to 3, according to a statement from the Foreign Affairs Ministry on Tuesday.
“During the visit, the minister will pay a courtesy call to Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla and will hold official talks with his Indonesian counterpart Retno L.P. Marsudi,” the statement said.
The statement added that Mr Sokhonn’s visit is expected to be an important step to further enhancing cooperation in both a bilateral and multilateral framework.
Cambodia and Indonesia have shared close military cooperation over the years and the Indonesian Armed Forces has continuously provided training and assistance to the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF).
Cambodia and Indonesia first established diplomatic relations in the 1960s. Indonesia also played an active role in the 1991 Paris Peace Accords.
